Compact design and flexible mounting options allows SS100 Air Starters to fit tight spaces
DAVIDSON, N.C. — Aug. 27, 2012 — Ingersoll Rand, a global leader in compressed air systems and industrial tools and equipment, is launching a new air starter to serve the small engine market. The SS100 Series Air Starters have a modular design that can be adapted to fit a range of engines, up to 10 liters in size. This versatility reduces application complexity, inventory costs and downtime.
Ingersoll Rand air starters are flexible, efficient alternatives to electric sources, and represent more than a half-century of innovative engineering expertise. They create sheer power from the natural environment, and are designed for demanding applications in the marine, mining, oil and gas, power generation, off-highway and transportation industries. The SS100 lube free motor is constructed with solid alloy steel components, making it tough enough to withstand the harshest environments and operating conditions.
“Ingersoll Rand engineered the SS100 Air Starters to be the most versatile, compact air starter on the market,” said Steve Diacumakos, global category manager for Ingersoll Rand. “Its flexible configuration and compact design allows customers to cover all their small engines with one common platform.”
The SS100 Air Starters have one frame and multiple 360° rotating flange options, so they are easy to install and can be manipulated to fit most small engines. The starter features an overhung design to eliminate outboard bearings that interfere with flywheel housings, making pinion changes simple. Couple these benefits with a simple offset gear design for efficient field service, and it becomes the ultimate solution for small engine air starting needs.
Ingersoll Rand SS100 Small Engine Air Starters are compatible with air or natural gas for increased flexibility and improved performance. The SS100 will replace the existing Ingersoll Rand 3BM, 5BM, and SS175 series starters. To learn more, visit ingersollrandproducts.com/ss100.
