Unlike a pneumatic impact wrench, like the 2135QXPA which should be lubricated daily, the W7152 should be greased every few months to extend the life and performance of the tool (depending on the usage and application). You can often identify areas that need to be lubricated based on the noise you hear from your tool – if you hear a change in noise, you can remove the hammercase and wipe off the gears, mechanism and anvil, then apply new lubrication to improve the performance of the tool. Specific instructions are provided in the product literature (product information manual).
When you’re putting the hammercase back on, you need to use a specific torque. The torque spec is stated in the product literature (spare parts list), so you know exactly how much you should use.
Ingersoll Rand cordless impact tools go through rigorous chemical resistance testing, but fuels and solvents like acetone, lacquer thinner, and gasoline should always be wiped away quickly. Abrasive cleaning can negatively affect the housing appearance, so you should always wipe the tool down with a paper towel and do not use a cleaning solvent. The W7152 is meant to perform in almost any environment, but like all tools, dirt and debris can impact performance. Try to keep dirt, debris and metal filings away from the ventilation openings in the housing.
In the past, preserving battery life was a concern with cordless impact tools. With advancements in technology, there is no “memory effect” on the lithium ion batteries – the classic “memory effect” came from Ni-Cd batteries. Keep in mind that the life of stored lithium ion cells and batteries are maximized by keeping them in the 40-50% state of charge.
It’s totally normal to charge the battery overnight, and this won’t have a negative effect on the battery. The battery pack has completed charge (>1hr) on the new IQV20 Series charger, there is no further energy supplied to the pack. If there is ever an unacceptable temperature condition within the battery pack, it will terminate charge until the temperature readings return to acceptable range. If battery is left in the charger for an extended period of time, the pack voltage will be monitored and a trickle charge will initiate if the voltage drops below the specified level. It should be noted that best practices indicate that the battery should not be stored in charger, and should be removed when charge is completed.
