Compressors use membrane technology or pressure swing adsorption methods to separate nitrogen from oxygen and deliver clean, dry nitrogen at the required purity and pressure. Once separated, technicians use nitrogen in the process of coating metal sheets. Using nitrogen coating minimizes the risk that moisture will come into direct contact with the metal, which could cause corrosion over the long term.
