Tempest Semi-Integrated Screw Compressors

Engineered for performance, flexibility, and seamless integration, the Tempest semi-integrated screw compressor range from Ingersoll Rand OEM Solutions provides a reliable foundation for advanced compressed air systems. Designed around proven Enduro air end technology, these units deliver consistent airflow, excellent efficiency, and long service life—even in demanding environments.

Tempest semi-integrated compressors enable OEMs to build optimized systems with reduced complexity, combining critical compressor components into a compact, ready-to-integrate platform. The result is lower installation effort, improved reliability, and enhanced total cost of ownership.

Compact Design for Seamless OEM Integration

Tempest semi-integrated compressors are designed to simplify the integration process for OEMs. By combining the air end, oil separation system, and key functional components into a single unit, the platform minimizes the need for additional downstream equipment and reduces installation footprint.

The compact cast iron construction ensures durability and structural integrity, even in mobile or space-constrained applications. This is particularly valuable for industries such as transport, construction equipment, and onboard systems, where space optimization and weight efficiency are critical.

By reducing system complexity, OEMs can accelerate development cycles while maintaining high performance standards across a wide range of compressed air applications.

Proven Performance with Enduro Air End Technology

At the core of every Tempest unit is the Enduro rotary screw air end, a technology recognized for its efficiency, reliability, and adaptability across operating conditions. With power ranges from 4 kW to 75 kW, Tempest compressors are suited to both small and high-demand systems.

Rotary screw compressors are widely used in industrial environments due to their ability to deliver continuous, stable airflow with high efficiency and reduced vibration. This makes them ideal for OEM equipment requiring dependable compressed air supply under varying load conditions.

The advanced rotor profile and optimized internal design ensure low energy consumption while maintaining high output performance, helping OEMs meet increasingly demanding efficiency standards.

Advanced Oil Separation for Cleaner Air

A defining feature of Tempest semi-integrated compressors is the innovative three-stage oil separation system. This design significantly reduces oil carryover to extremely low levels, supporting cleaner compressed air delivery and protecting downstream components.

Efficient oil separation also contributes directly to system performance. Lower internal pressure drop reduces energy consumption, allowing the compressor to operate more efficiently while extending component lifespan. Cleaner air output benefits sensitive applications, improves reliability, and reduces maintenance intervals.

This integrated approach eliminates the need for external oil separation systems, further simplifying design and lowering overall system costs.

Built for Reliability in Demanding Applications

Tempest compressors are engineered to perform in some of the most challenging operating conditions. Features such as a leak-tight O-ring design, integrated discharge valve, oil filter, and thermostat ensure consistent and reliable operation with minimal maintenance requirements.

The robust construction supports operation under varying environmental conditions, including applications requiring inclined or mobile installations. The ability to operate at tilting angles up to 10–30 degrees expands use cases across transport and off-highway equipment.

From rail brake systems to compressed air foam systems (CAFS) and industrial machinery, Tempest compressors are trusted for their durability, uptime, and operational consistency.

Reduced Total Cost of Ownership

By integrating multiple functional components into a single, efficient unit, Tempest semi-integrated compressors reduce installation complexity, minimize piping requirements, and lower maintenance needs. The simplified architecture results in fewer potential failure points and improved serviceability.

Energy efficiency is another key contributor to cost savings. Low internal pressure drop and optimized oil separation help reduce power consumption, while the long-lasting design minimizes downtime and spare parts replacement.

For OEMs, this translates into competitive advantages: faster time-to-market, improved system performance, and lower lifecycle costs for end users.

The Tempest family of integrated screw compressors is ideal for a wide range of compressed air requirements, with Enduro air end units ranging from 4 kW up to 75 kW.

This integrated compressor unit with Enduro air end fulfills some of the most demanding specifications, offering robust construction and ease of maintenance. Tempest products are perfect partners, for example for train brake systems, compressed air foam systems (CAFS), and many more.

Superior oil separation

Our oil separation is an innovative three-stage system that provides superior oil separation compared to other oil-lubricated screw compressors on the market. This results in an oil carryover of less than 3.0 (TN3, T6, T12, T25) – 5.0 (TN4, TN8) mg/m³.

Cleaner air is better for downstream equipment and extends the lifespan of spare parts. Clean pressurized air also has a smaller environmental impact. Our oil separation development aims to reduce energy consumption and improve the efficiency of the compressor. When the oil separator operates with a lower pressure difference, the power consumption of the drive motor is reduced. We have developed oil separator elements that operate perfectly with smaller capacity compressors but also with the maximum capacities.
